Art from Mexico

Our Junior High students looked at different types of art and traditions from Mexico. Each of the grade levels did a different project resembling the arts we discussed in class. In Eighth Grade, students learned about the tradition of the Day of the Dead, and we made skulls. In Seventh Grade we looked at symbolism in art and made sun and moon designs. Finally in Sixth Grade we made learned about tooling, a craft, and made tin birds.
Stop by and look for our birds in the Junior High Office.

Fall leaves in Chalk and Glue

The 7th Grade classes learned about blending colors with Square-Chalk Pastels. First they drew different leaf designs and balanced their papers. Then, with Elmer's Glue, they outline the leaves. Once the glue is dry, they added a variety of colors and blended them to create a nice fall like picture.

Nature Landscapes

The 6th grade classes completed a composition in colored pencil and marker. We practiced drawing by shape and blending colors. Everyone's goal was to create a realistic landscape with at least two ducks, a horizon line, and a complete background. Here are some outstanding examples. Great Job Sixth Graders. See more pictures like this in the FCJHS Fine Arts Night, Wednesday, October 28th at 7pm.

Hands and Patterns

FCJHS 7th and 8th Graders recently practiced creating realistic hands on brightly colored paper. Behind the hands are textures in black and white. Here are just some of our outstanding results.

Perspective Boxes

All the 7th and 8th Graders learned about perspective drawing. Using a vanishing point and a straight edge, the students hand drew boxes. Then we added *something* to weave in and out of our boxes to add demension. It was a job well done by all. Enjoy!

Symmetrical Designs

The sixth graders did a project using the process of transfering, symmetry and patterning. They did a great job. They are a hard working group of kids. The results for this project were outstanding.
