The 8th Graders have just completed a lesson about drawing, painting, and blending. All three skills were used to compose the banyon trees. First the students drew their trees and painted them with a watery acrylic paint. Then, we looked closely at the color wheel and practiced transition blending with oil pastels. The final results are brilliantly colored like rainbows. Super work 8th graders!

Amazing POP art
We have been making POP art! But, not the Andy Warhol kind. Seventh graders at FCJHS have been working on realistic drawing and painting their favorite soda cans. Some of the pictures are finished in acrylic paints, while others used metallic watercolors. This was a wonderful project that everyone enjoyed, while trying something new. We even snapped off the tops of our cans to save for the Ronald McDonald house.
Keep it up 7th graders!

Sign Language
There are so many ways to communicate! Our seventh grade art students studied the basic sign language alphabet. Then they chose a word or phrase they wanted to portray in their artwork. The results were fantastic! Everyone chose something different. We used a variety of media to finish our artwork; colored pencils, paint and collage were just a few. Pictured here are some super examples. Enjoy!

8th Grade HAND Books
Our 8th graders are such a wonderful group. This year, they will make two large projects to remember the arts education through their junior high years. Each 8th grader made a book full of renderings of their hands. Then, we bound them into to books and made covers. They have done a great job! Some of the kids are using them as autograph books, while others are keeping them and embellishing each page. Here is a picture of our progress!
